KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA  “The Handsome Frog” – A Musical Adventure for Children Tuesday, August 6, 2013, 4 pm @ the Westwood Library 1246 Glendon Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90024 310-474-1739 Free parking Join the Vientos Trio at the Westwood Library for a special story time!  Children will play musical games, learn about the instruments, and clap and sing along as they become part of Dan the Handsome Frog’s musical adventure! “The Handsome Frog” was specially commissioned by the L.A. Musical Salon from composer and clarinetist Jennifer Stevenson of the Vientos Trio. This performance will be the world premiere of “The Handsome Frog”!

 
 

Free Guitar Lessons @ Westwood Library This FREE 10-week course sponsored by the LIMG_0065-R.A. Musical Salon offers teens ages 12 to 17 the chance for a hands-on interactive learning experience with the guitar. Classes will be held Thursdays at 5PM, starting February 7, 2013 and running through April 11, 2013. Each class will be an hour long, and will be taught in a group setting. Class size is limited to 10 students. The response was overwhelming—the class filled up, with a long waiting list, within 24 hours after an emailed notice was circulated to the surrounding neighborhoods! Whether you are an absolute beginner, know a few chords, or are a total shredder by now, there’s something here for you. Learn how to play the chords and riffs to your favorite songs, and gain the tools to start writing music of your own. Take those first steps towards that dream of rock superstardom! Meet Derik Nelson, a young singer/songwriter/guitarist who’s currently a student at USC Thornton School of Music. Derik’s music borrows heavily from jazz, funk and rock. The young musician will be showcasing his original music including highlights from the new Derik Nelson Band CD “North.”
