Multi-talented composer, conductor
and mezzo-soprano JENNI BRANDON joins the L.A. Musical Salon Series for the world premiere of her composition
Sea Quartet for piano, oboe, clarinet and bassoon, commissioned by the L.A. Musical Salon for her composer’s
residency with the Vientos Trio during their 2008-2009 concert season.
As a composer, Ms. Brandon writes for a large variety of both instrumental
and vocal ensembles, and her works have been performed all over the world. Ms. Brandon’s music is
often influenced by themes of nature.

Some highlights of
her composition work include The Wildflower Trio, a piece commissioned to honor the life and work of Lady Bird Johnson,
which now appears as a single on the Longhorn Music label. Her choral work At Night for SATB a
cappella, is the winner of the 2008 Sorel Medallion and was premiered by the ensemble Voices of Ascension under the direction
of Dennis Keene in Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall in October 2008. Dancing Naked at the Edge of Dawn
was commissioned by the women’s choir Sistrum in Lansing, Michigan, and will be premiered in May 2009.
As a vocalist, Ms.
Brandon has sung under the direction of a variety of conductors and has appeared in concert with the Boston Pops, Pacific
Chorale, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and at the Hollywood Bowl.
As a choral conductor she is currently the music director of The Concert Singers, the oldest independent
choir in Los Angeles.
Ms. Brandon received her
B.M. Composition from West Chester University in Pennsylvania, and her M.M. Composition from the University of Texas, Austin.
Her pieces Five Frogs for woodwind quintet, Earth Grown Old for SATB choir and piano, and The Dark Hills
for SATB choir, oboe and piano, are published by Boosey & Hawkes. The Dark Hills appears
on the recording “Welcome the Time,” the Yale Glee Club’s live highlights CD from their 2006-2007 season.
